Welcome to Jnana Mandira
Welcome to Jnana Mandira, the knowledge blog of AstroYathra.
Jnana means knowledge or wisdom, and Mandira means a sacred abode or temple. We call this blog Jnana Mandira — a Temple of Knowledge — because it is intended to be a space for learning, exploring and sharing the timeless wisdom of Jyotisha Shastra.
Jyotisha is often encountered today primarily through predictions — questions about marriage, career, finance, health, or what the future may hold. But the tradition of Jyotisha extends far beyond prediction.
It is a profound system of knowledge that helps us understand Karma, Kala (time), Dharma, planetary influences, and the patterns through which our lives unfold.
Through this blog, I intend to share what I have learnt through years of studying, practising, researching and teaching Jyotisha — while continuing to remain a student of this vast Shastra myself.
The objective of Jnana Mandira is not merely to tell you what the planets predict, but to explore why the principles of Jyotisha work the way they do.
Here, we will gradually explore the foundations of Vedic Astrology, Grahas, Rashis, Bhavas, Nakshatras, Dashas, planetary transits, Yogas, marriage compatibility, Prashna, Muhurtha, traditional remedies, Karma, Dharma, Free Will and different approaches within Jyotisha.
Some articles will introduce fundamental concepts for those beginning their journey, while others will explore specific principles and practical applications in greater depth.
Above all, Jnana Mandira is intended to be a place for learning, questioning, contemplation and sharing knowledge — rooted in our tradition, yet presented in a way that can be understood and applied in today’s world.
And there can perhaps be no better place to begin this journey than with the most fundamental question:
Through Jnana Mandira, we will attempt to understand this extraordinary Shastra one concept at a time — not with fear or superstition, but with curiosity, respect, reasoning and devotion to the tradition from which it emerged.
दीपो ज्योति परं ब्रह्म
May the light of knowledge illuminate our path.
